Itinerary
Day 1
BALIKPAPAN – SAMBOJA – HOTEL (L, D)
- Upon arrival at Sultan Aji Sulaiman Airport, transfer directly to the orangutan conservation area in Samboja, approximately 1 hour.
- Check in at hotel and lunch.
- Afternoon visit orangutan islands with Samboja staff; if time permits, see sun bears.
- Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2
SAMBOJA – BUKIT BENGKIRAI – LOA JANAN – KOTA BANGUN (B, L, D)
- Breakfast, check out and drive to Bukit Bengkirai tropical rainforest.
- Observe native Kalimantan trees and walk on the canopy bridge over 30 meters above ground.
- Continue to Kota Bangun via toll road.
- Begin Mahakam River journey by motorized boat via Pela River, Semayang & Melintang Lake; possible freshwater dolphin sighting.
- Continue to Muara Muntai, check in local guest house, dinner and rest.
- Room note: AC, 3 big beds & 3 single beds, sharing bathroom/toilet, no shower.
Day 3
MUARA MUNTAI – TANJUNG ISUY – MANCONG – TANJUNG ISUY (B, L, D)
- Walk around Muara Muntai and visit traditional market.
- Continue by small motorized boat through Ohong Creeks and Jempang Lake for wildlife observation.
- Lunch box at forest, then back toward Tanjung Isuy through floating villages.
- Visit Mancong Village and Dayak Benuaq Longhouse; enjoy traditional dance performance.
- Return to Tanjung Isuy, check in local guest house, dinner and rest.
- Room note: fan, no AC, shared bathroom & toilet, no shower.
Day 4
MUARA PAHU – TEBISAQ – MUARA MUNTAI (B, L, D)
- By motorized boat to Tebisaq Village crossing Jempang Lake, Beloan Creeks and Kedang Pahu River.
- Visit another Dayak Benuaq Longhouse.
- Back to Muara Pahu for lunch, then return to Muara Muntai via Mahakam River.
- Check in local guest house, dinner and rest.
Day 5
KOTA BANGUN – TENGGARONG – PAMPANG – SAMARINDA (B, L, D)
- Breakfast and motorized boat back to Kota Bangun via Melintang & Semayang Lake.
- Continue by car to Samarinda, lunch.
- Visit Dayak Kenyah Village, Pampang; weekly dance performance only on Sunday (subject to local conditions).
- Back to Samarinda, dinner, check in at Harris Hotel, rest.
Day 6
HOTEL – AIRPORT – BERAU – MARATUA (B, L, D)
- Breakfast, check out and transfer to airport for flight to Berau / Tanjung Redeb.
- Continue by car to Tanjung Batu, approximately 2 hours.
- Continue by speedboat about 2.5 hours to Maratua Island.
- Check in at Pratasaba Resort.
Day 7
MARATUA – KAKABAN – SANGALAKI – MARATUA (B, L, D)
- Depart by speedboat to Sangalaki Island and visit turtle conservation area.
- Continue to Kakaban Island to swim with stingless jellyfish and snorkel.
- Continue to Maratua Island and visit Halo Tabung Cave.
- Return to resort in late afternoon.
Day 8
MARATUA – WHALE SHARK TALISAYAN – MANIMBORA – LABUAN CERMIN – MARATUA (B, L, D)
- Early morning departure by speedboat to Talisayan for whale shark habitat observation (recommended during new moon period).
- Continue to Manimbora Island.
- Lunch at Labuan Cermin and enjoy its clear waters and scenery.
- Return to Maratua Island in the afternoon.
Day 9
MARATUA – GOA HAJI MANGKU – BAJAU VILLAGE – SEMANTING MANGROVE – BERAU HOTEL (B, L, D)
- Visit Goa Haji Mangku.
- Continue to Bajau Village to observe daily activities of sea nomad fishermen community.
- Return to hotel for check-out preparations.
- Visit Semanting mangrove area and continue to Tanjung Redeb.
- Check in at Bumi Segah Hotel or similar.
Day 10
HOTEL – AIRPORT (B)
- Breakfast, check out and transfer to airport for onward flight.
- End of tour.
